The MediaTek MT7988A is a world-leading network processing platform for high-performance and reliable networking
experiences, both in wired and wireless applications. The MT7988A comprises a rich connection interface sets
including 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports, 2 UsxGMll interfaces, 4 pcle 3.0 interfaces, and 2 UsB 3.2 Gen1 ports.
The MT7988A further enables seamless Wi-fi7 tri-band, 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz, connectivity, with its Wi-fi 7
companion chip that features 320 MHz bandwidth, 4096-QAM, MLO, MRU, and AFC.
To answer the need of fast-evolving tunneling applications, the MT7988A comes with MediaTek Tunnel Ofload
Processor system (Tops), which facilitates the processing of a wide range of tunneling protocols. The MT7988A
optimizes networking performance with exquisitely tuned ISA of MediaTek TOps, and is dedicated to lifting networking
offloading performance to premium level.
The MediaTek Filogic 880 platform offers flagship Wi-Fi 7 performance up to 36Gbps PHY (BE36000). Connectivity starts with tri-band 2.4GHz + 5GHz + 6GHz and is scalable to Penta-band support. The platform supports complete Wi-Fi 7 features including 320MHz bandwidth, 4096-QAM, MLO, MRU, and AFC.
MediaTek’s unique 4T5R platform allows for improved Receive Diversity and supports MRC (Multiple Receive Combining). This boosts 6GHz band throughput in typical indoor scenarios and extends maximum range. This assures true flagship-grade performance as well as more reliable and effective mesh networking backhaul over 6GHz.
Single-chip MAC MLO (Multi-link operation) is a unique architecture that allows optimal MLO performance in Wi-Fi 7 networks. This technology lowers latency by up to 100x versus competing Wi-Fi 7 solutions. MLO aggregation and integrated into a single chip and ensures the fastest, smoothest and most efficient band switching performance.
Filogic 880’s embedded CPU features a quad-core Arm Cortex-A73 with large internal cache and speeds of up to 1.8GHz for a class-leading performance of close to 30K DMIPS. With the NPU offloading networking tasks, the CPE is free for device makers to offer OS customization, in-built services and apps for extended functionality, now a regular feature of flagship router/AP equipment.
The in-chip, MediaTek-designed Network Processing Unit (NPU) provides hardware QoS acceleration and Tunneling Offload Engine for VLAN / PPTP / L2TP / GRE. It goes beyond others to work with both Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections, ensuring performance at full speeds while also offloading the main application processor.
The MediaTek Filogic 880 platform is highly extensible, with high speed internal and external interfaces including 10Gbps PCI-Express, 5Gbps USB, UART, SD, SPI, PWM, GPIO and OTP for rich platform customization opportunities.
Two USXGMII provide two 10Gbps Ethernet, ensuring full speed from wireless to wired is available – ideal for latest 10G+ Fiber connections, SMB and tech enthusiasts that require the fastest data networking speeds. In addition, a 2.5Gbps Ethernet port and four Gigabit Ethernet switch are available from the platform, ensuring an array of Ethernet connectivity speeds with great flexibility for device makers to customize designs.
